Detailed Itinerary
This land tour needs to be accompanied by one of the following cruise itineraries
This itinerary starts BEFORE the accompanying cruise itinerary.
Day 1: Anchorage
Arrive in Anchorage and get settled in your hotel for an overnight stay. You might enjoy getting out to see the shops, restaurants and cultural attractions of this surprisingly metropolitan city.
Day 2: Anchorage / Mt. McKinley
Comfortable Princess Rail takes you from the civilized deep into the wilderness. Arriving at Talkeetna you'll enjoy the scenic transfer to the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, where your room and a magnificent view of the lodge's namesake mountain are awaiting you, as are an array of optional excursions.
Day 3: Mt. McKinley / Denali
Enjoy a scenic motorcoach drive to the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge, located just outside the national park entrance. Why not get to know the splendor of the park with one of a variety of activities including a husky homestead tour, fly fishing or a glacier landing via helicopter.
Day 4: Denali
You have a full day to get out into one of America's best national parks. This morning, a Natural History Tour serves as a wonderful introduction to the animals, plants and geological features found there. Later today, you may want to stop by the tour desk to plan an activity such as rafting or hiking.
Day 5: Denali / Copper River
Sightsee by motorcoach across the scenic Denali Highway to the Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge. You'll savor the gorgeous views of Mt. Drum, Mt. Wrangell and Mt. Blackburn from the two-story Wrangell Room. Tonight, opt to dine in the wonderful Two Rivers Restaurant.
Day 6: Copper River
Attractions near the Copper River Lodge include massive Wrangell-St. Elias National Park - the largest in the United States. Plan an activity in the park or try your luck at salmon fishing on the river.
Day 7: Copper River / Whittier
A scenic drive over Thompson Pass, with a stop at Worthington Glacier, delivers you to Valdez, where you'll board a high-speed catamaran for the Prince William Sound crossing. Along Valdez Arm are beautiful waterfalls and lots of wildlife like bald eagles, sea otters, sea lions and various seabirds. Catch a glimpse of Blackstone Glacier and College Fjord. Crystal blue ice bergs dot the water near the inlet of Columbia Glacier. Don't forget to keep an eye out for whales! Once in Whittier, you'll join your waiting cruise ship to begin a spectacular voyage.
